Teste de Exercício Cardiopulmonar

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing
“Physical exercise requires the interaction of physiological mechanisms that enable the cardiovascular and respiratory systems to support the increased energy demands of contracting muscles. Both systems are consequently stressed during exercise. Their ability to respond adequately to this stress is a measure of their functional competence or “health”. Exercise testing offers the investigator the unique opportunity to study simultaneously the cellular, cardiovascular, and ventilatory systems’ responses under conditions of precisely controlled metabolic stress”.
Karlman Wasserman in his book „Principles of Exercise Testing and Interpretation
